"Child support law in Texas is established for the
protection of the children. Any parent who ignores the financial
responsibility of his or her child should be taken to court." Bernard E. Packard
Child
Support Cases
The state of Texas provides guidelines for
determining the minimum amount of child support for non-custodial parents.
Fortunately, the laws and the judges tend to be in favor of the children in
these matters.
After a divorce, life changes greatly for the children. Adequate child
support payments can help to offset the trauma and confusion that children
suffer following such a separation. It is important to make sure that big
changes are kept to a minimum and that the child's lifestyle is preserved to the
best extent possible.
If a parent fails to pay child support, or
if the non-custodial parent has the financial ability to pay more child support
than was originally ordered by the court, then child support enforcements or
modifications should be filed in the proper court of jurisdiction. If the
paying-parent makes more money than was used to originally calculate the child
support, then that parent may be ordered to increase the support payments.
