"Cases involving adoptions and the termination of parental rights requires the greatest care.  The best interest of the child must always be top priority." Bernard E. Packard

Adoptions and Terminations

By definition, an adoption creates a legal parent-child relationship between two people who are not otherwise biologically parent & child.  Adoption law is regulated by the state in which the adoption will take place.

Some adoptions are handled through adoption agencies.  Other adoptions may result from pre-arranged agreements between the biological parents and the adopting parent.  In each case, it is important to find an experienced attorney who is knowledgeable and understanding.

Revocation of Parental Rights

In nearly every instance, an adoption decree requires that the legal relationship of the adopted child is completely severed with its biological parents and family. For all legal purposes, adopted children become the children of their adoptive parents.
